2021 SKINCARE AND BEAUTY TRENDS
With a new year comes new skincare and beauty trends! Since many of us have been staying in and soaking up our home sweet homes, it only makes sense that we’ll be seeing lots of simple and clean beauty trends for 2021. Skincare can be a bit tricky nowadays thanks to the masks we’ve been wearing, so it’s more important than ever to take care of what’s underneath! Keep scrolling for 9 of my favorite 2021 skincare and beauty trends.
2021 Skincare Trends
1. Clean and Transparent Beauty
Using clean and transparent beauty products means it’s safer and non-toxic, making them the perfect option for any woman. Sustainable formulas allow skin textures to be truly visible. This more natural look is a big beauty trend for 2021!
I had the please of meeting Indie Lee before COVID hit. She developed her clean skincare line after developing a brain tumor. I highly recommend everything in the line! The body salt scrub is a must-have (it doesn’t make the shower floor greasy), and stem cell serum is one of my favorites!
Elemis Skincare is my latest discovery. I’ve been using the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm and loving the results. Removes all traces of make-up while leaving your skin soft and plump. You can also use it as a mask! I put it on before I take a bath. For my daily moisturizer, I’ve been using this 3 in one anti-wrinkle marine cream. I love that it has SPF 30 and smells so fresh and clean! Other Elemis products I’ve been using regularly are Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads and Superfood face oil. Other clean skincare lines I love: Necessaire, and Tula (use code FASHIONEDLIFE 15% off cart)
2. Stay At Home Light Coverage
It’s another year of the natural skin that glows. There’s really no need for heavy coverage, even if you do venture out. I love products like Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow that will nourish your skin while giving you long-lasting light coverage. Other Favorites are this Laura Mercier tinted foundation with SPF and NARS.
3. Maskne
I’m sure we’ve probably all experienced it by now – the acne that comes along with wearing a mask for long periods of time. The pores on your face are completely trapped when wearing a face covering, so oils, grease, and makeup are more likely to build up. Even when you breathe or talk, your mask tends to trap lots of hot air. There are, fortunately, several effective products that target maskne. I’ve been using Pause Detox Serum and love it! PCA Skin Acne gel and First Aid beauty clay pads are also excellent choices.
4. Eye Makeup
Since the eyes are pretty much the only exposed part of your face when you go out nowadays, women are focusing more on their eye makeup. Eye trends are coming on strong with colorful cat eyes, groomed brows, and fun eyeliners!
5. Plant-Based Skincare
More than clean beauty, plant-based skincare gives you powerful ingredients like bakuchiol, a natural Retinal. Similar to the clean and transparent beauty product trend, the plant-based skincare fad is being studied more and more in hopes of a healthier skincare and beauty routine. Erno Laszlo’s cream is light, absorbs quickly, and smells fab. Sisley Paris is a splurge but worth it, and Ursa Major had very effective products!
6. Smart Beauty/Health devices
When stuck at home… at-home devices bring the spa to you, including at-home dermabrasion, steamers, and teeth whiting, to name a few.
Red Light therapy will turn back the clock. Effectively diminishing fine lines and plumping your skin. If I get in front of my red light device 3-4 x’s a week, my lips naturally plump, and fine lines like crows feet are diminished!
My Vejo blender helps you stay healthy from the inside out. From collagen blends to immunity support, they have a targeted blend for you. Use this link here and CODE HFL8Pack for a free 8 pack when you check out.
7. Blue Light Protection
Did you know that excessive screen time will age you? Thankfully, brands are starting to create products with blue light protection actually built-in. You will find more and more lotions and serums that have this feature. Some of my favorites are Avene, EltaMD, and SkinCeuticals.
8. Probiotic Skincare
I’ve used these probiotic cleansing pads for years. My skin feels like I just had an in-person facial after application! I highly recommend using skincare with built-in probiotics guaranteed to promote more youthful and rejuvenated skin.
9. Lip Balm
You might as well condition your lips under that mask! Moisturizing lip balm is more important now than ever, thanks to the beautiful masks we’ve been sporting this past year. My lips feel so good and soft after using Dr. Barbara Strum’s lip balm.
