My Favorite Happy Hour Spots in Austin, Texas

Austin is well known for its abundant food scene. We are fortunate to have many restaurants to choose from any night of the week. I have rounded up my favorite happy hour spots that I tend to go back to repeatedly over the 16 years I have lived here. Nothing is better than escaping a busy day and going to a restaurant you love!

In this post, I am rounding up some of my favorite happy hour restaurants and bars in Austin so you can enjoy a ½ priced drink or two and maybe even a full plate of food for a bargain.


Austin Happy Hour Spots

Clark’s Oyster Bar – Maybe my favorite spot in Austin. I routinely make reservations on Friday afternoons here well in advance. My regular order would be oysters (some of the best in town) with a mound of rosemary-infused string fries and an ice-cold wedge salad topped with crab. I love the open kitchen & marble-topped bar. Clark’s is upscale indoor & outdoor dining at its best.

Happy Hour (Mon-Fri from 3-5p. Half-off Burgers & Martinis. 50¢ off Oysters $5 Oyster Shooters).

Howard’sHowards is right across the street from Clark’s and a perfect spot to continue the night after Clark’s. Highly recommend the ice-cold martinis and classic cocktails. There is a bit of a fun night scene here, although I tend to like it earlier in the day when it’s not so crowded. 

Happy Hour (Mon-Fri from 3-5p. Half-off Drafts & Dogs).

Nido This restaurant is a new kid on the block. The view of the Austin skyline is breathtaking! Nido is at The Loren Hotel and is a true rooftop oasis. That said, if you visit during the summer heat, you will want to sit inside the ac. If the weather is mild, make a reservation well ahead for an outdoor table with a view. 


Austin Happy Hours

Taco Flats – If my husband and I want no-fuss delicious food with margaritas that are so good, we head to Taco Casual sports bar with a neighborhood vibe. My favorite would be the fish tostadas and ceviche!

Happy Hour, Monday – Friday, 2 pm-6 pm, for some great deals like $1 off tacos, $1 off beers, $2 off wine on tap, and $2 off signature cocktails, or indulge in the $5 queso and guacamole.

Hank’s – Hank’s has a very Instagramable vibe. The large outdoor patio dining is beautiful and dog friendly. Ready for larger parties or easy to cozy up to the bar. Elevated casual dining.

The Wayback Cafe – The Wayback Cafe is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Austin. This boutique hotel also has the cutest little restaurant and bar area on the grounds. They serve classic farm-to-table meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s quiet on the grounds with beautiful surroundings and yummy food and cocktails.  

Suerte – Suerte is new to my list. I was so impressed with the cocktails and food that I could not wait to return. On the east side, they are an award-winning modern Mexican restaurant you won’t be disappointed with.

Austin Happy Hours

Perla’s Oyster Bar – A oldie but goodie located right on Congress Ave, this is both a must-go for tourists and locals. I love spending time under the striped umbrellas on the patio with the shade of the massive oak tree keeping the hot sun out. Pearla’s has an elevated laid-back vibe with an open kitchen.

La PiscinaLocated on the 5th floor of the Austin Proper Hotel, La Piscina is a poolside restaurant and bar serving Texas-inspired Mexican cuisine. The view from the pool bar outside is beautiful!

Happy Hour specials include $2 off all alcoholic drinks and 25% off specific menu items (varies daily). When: Monday–Friday // Time: 4–6 pm.

North Italian Grill – Visit North Italia in downtown Austin or at the Domain for handmade Italian cuisine. I love the multiple-ingredient fresh salads and cocktails. We cannot visit here without having the meatballs!

Mon-Thur 3 pm-6 pm. Half-off bottles of wine (excludes reserve wine) in the bar. Full Happy Hour Food Menu.

Everything always seems to come back in style, and that is no exception when it comes to sports! Pickleball was popular back in the 80’s, and it has come back around! This is said to be the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. today!

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines ping pong and tennis into one. The game and rules are fun and always bring a good time! The best part is that anyone can play!

There are only a few necessities when it comes to pickleball, and those include:

Ladies, let’s face it, hot flashes and night sweats are common and unwanted symptoms when going through menopause. Hot flashes are a common symptom of menopause. There’s nothing worse than feeling your body heat up when you are out shopping, eating with friends, or on a date night! With a sudden rush of heat from your chest to your head, you know it’s coming—a hot flash. Your skin gets red, and you feel like ripping your clothes off! For me, this happens mostly at night, which in turn disturbs my sleep.

Hot flashes occasionally creep up when I’m out and about, too. Did you know that hot flashes last an average of 5 to 10 years while diminishing in severity and frequency? That’s a long time to be uncomfortable and irritable! Below I’m sharing 3 tips to stop hot flashes when you are in a crisis.


1). LIFESTYLE CHANGES

If you’re looking to make small and simple lifestyle changes to help with hot flashes, you can exercise and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods. If you can, also try keeping your alcohol to a minimum. I know it’s not what you want to hear, but I notice I have trouble sleeping at night because of hot flashes every time I have wine or a cocktail. Dressing in layers can help bring relief, no matter what time of year. After all, hot flashes show up in every season. In addition to these tangible lifestyle changes, you can practice deep breathing when you feel one coming on. Adding meditation and other stress-relief techniques to your daily routine can also decrease the number of hot flashes you have.

2). RELIEF SPRAY

7 Tips To Get Out The Door Faster In The Mornings

Do you ever feel rushed and frustrated in the mornings trying to get out the door? Maybe you think to yourself… “if only I would have prepared last night!” I know I have a better day when my mornings are smooth, and I leave the house with everything I need for the day. However, between kids and appointments to owning a business and meetings, my days were just too busy to even think about the next one. However, lately, I’ve been putting forth more effort to be prepared ahead of time, so leaving the house the following day is a breeze.
Below I’m sharing seven tips that have truly helped me get out the door faster in the mornings!

1. Have elevated basics you can mix and match quickly in your closet

I still get stressed about what to wear at a moment’s notice as a fashion blogger. I’ve learned over the years that choosing neutrals that mix and match or a monochrome look is an easy outfit option.
I use these formulas on rotation:
Out the door quickly- Leggings, sweater, boots
Lunch with friends- straight leg jeans t-shirt, plaid blazer, sneakers
Date night – having an LBD ready to go is a must.
Casual dinner out – Off the shoulder top, wide-leg pants, and sandals

2. Keep Your Makeup Simple

I am a makeup lover through and through—all the way from eyeliner to highlighter. However, keeping it simple is the only option when you’re in a hurry.
– My favorite foundation for great coverage is Ilia skincare
– I love a cream blush you can swipe and blend with your finger

3. Use multi-tasking products

When you only have 10 minutes to get yourself out the door, reaching for one item that will do several things is a big timesaver. Multi-tasking beauty products are everywhere now! Lip/cheek tints, foundations with skincare, and SPF benefits. Hair texturizer that doubles up as a dry shampoo and so many more. Utilize them; they all help drastically.


4. Use the right hair tools

Thank goodness for today’s hair tools, am I right?! Invest in an iron that heats up in under 60 sec. When I’m in a time crunch, I usually focus on the front part of my hair by wrapping those pieces around a curling wand and then run my fingers through them. Adding texture spray takes no time but still looks good. Also, having a quality blow dryer is essential and cuts drying time in half without damaging your hair.

5. Prepare the night before

Preparing the night before is a biggie, and though it doesn’t always happen, if you can prepare what you need the night before, you will be ahead of the game! If you do some simple things like laying out your clothes and shoes, having your handbag ready to go, and placing your keys where they need to be, it’s helpful when you are in a rush.

6. Spruce up your hair

Sometimes, all you need to do to your 2-3 day old styled hair, is add a little bit of heat from the blow dryer, texture spay, and the right hair oil. One of my favorite ways to style my hair is with loose beach curls. I use my tapered barrel curling iron. This iron gives you chic loose curls in no time. 7. Put your hair into a low bun

Were you having a bad hair day, toss it back into an easy low bun. You can see how I do this here – it’s so quick and perfect for casual, busy days!

Between aging, menopause, and a crazy busy schedule, I’ve learned so much about my body over the past several years. One of the most essential things in life is my health and wellness. Self-care is the key to success, and for me, that means achieving more balance in my life and taking time out of my day to do things that relax my mind and body.

The best part of my every day is my nighttime routine. I truly see the positive benefits of engaging in a before-bed routine that helps calm my mental headspace before winding down to sleep. Below I’m sharing my regular nightly routine that has helped improve my quality of sleep tremendously in hopes that it helps you as well. I encourage you to prioritize self-care to reap the benefits in your everyday life!

1. Taking time for yourself.

I don’t know about you, but nothing calms my mind more than a soothing bath before bed. There’s something about closing the door to our daily lives for some peace and quiet and slipping into a peaceful tub of warm water. Trust me; it’s a mental relaxation as well as a body.

2. Dry Brushing

There are many benefits to dry-brushing; if you haven’t started, I highly recommend starting. Before getting into the bath, I use a dry brush to help cellulite and crepe skin. When using this exfoliation method, the bath soaks you’re using will absorb into the skin better.

Bathing with crystals is something I’ve thoroughly enjoyed because it is such a powerful way to absorb the energy of natural stones. Combining three great conductors – water, body, and crystals – will supercharge your overall wellbeing.

6. Just add flowers

For me, I love a glass of wine to celebrate or on a date night, but I tend to sleep better when I replace the wine at home with a refreshing drink that also has detox benefits. One of my favorite (and easy) beverages instead of wine is a detox lemon water that does the trick every time!

Lemon water is not only good in the morning and throughout the day, but it also detoxes the liver and provides a great night’s rest. The only ingredients I add to my water are lemon and a little bit of mint, and that’s all it needs! Add an editable daisy if you would like.

HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL 2022

With a new year comes new opportunities and goals, and who doesn’t love a fresh start? I personally want to challenge myself this year to become more successful and intentional. Each year, I create a vision board to envision what I want to accomplish.  When I look back at my previous year’s boards, it is mindblowing to see things come to fruition that I had on my board!  Vision boards are a gamechanger and can be created on paper or put together in a digital form to help you manifest your goals. REFLECT ON 2021

First and foremost, reflect on the last year – the good and the bad. Ask yourself what you would like to continue doing and what you want to change. For many of us, 2021 was a very challenging year with lots of twists and turns, so that it may be uncomfortable reminiscing; however, it’s necessary! I encourage you to self-assess and to take time to think about how you would like to grow in 2022.

DO A SELF-REVIEW

Doing self-reflection means taking time to focus on your inward self in order to answer important questions about your life. Self-assessments help you better understand yourself, your strengths, your weaknesses, and your core values. Understanding your purpose and potential will help you become more successful in 2022.

SET INTENTIONS AND REACHABLE GOALS

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a New Year resolution girl. This year, I’m focusing more on intentionality and tangible goals rather than unattainable resolutions. I want the goals I set for myself to be specific and reachable. If you’ve never heard of SMART goals, it’s a great method that’s backed by research to help you reach your goals. It stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound – this is what I will be focusing on to make my goals seem less overwhelming!

PUT YOURSELF FIRST

Putting yourself before all else does not mean you’re a selfish person. In fact, it means you’re focusing on your own self-care in order to be better for others. While having a goal-setting mindset is a great mental state to be in, sometimes it’s easy to go overboard. It’s so important to set time for yourself, whatever that looks like. You will feel more motivated to actually work toward the goals you’ve set for yourself! I’m trying to get better at this as well.

CELEBRATE THE SMALL VICTORIES

Maybe you went on a 30-minute walk before or after work… maybe you lost a pound last week… maybe you replaced your go-to dessert after dinner with an apple. The small wins eventually add up to large victories that you’re working so hard to achieve. It’s important to go easy on yourself. Any win is worth celebrating – small wins will always lead to bigger wins and better habits.
