Elevating A Casual Outfit To Austin Chic

I live in a very casual city, that I completely love, Austin Tx. This beautiful city has a very laid back, casual feel and an artsy vibe. Because of this, my daily outfits have destroyed denim and sneakers on repeat! However, some occasions call for an Austin (change to your city) Chic outfit. Then I always as myself, well what exactly is Austin Chic? It’s kinda hard to nail down, but I always try to keep it simple, understated and add a bit of luxe to my outfit.

Keeping it simple but significate is always my top priority when dressing.

Let me break down how to elevate a casual everyday outfit for a chic look you can wear to a ladies brunch, or any daytime, early evening event.

For this casual but chic look, I have a monochrome ribbed cashmere set on.  Dressing with monochrome pieces is always a quick way to get to a chic outfit. Choosing this ribbed cashmere fabric gives a very luxe feel!  I layered on a  black military jacket with edgy details to add interest. Just tossing the jacket over my shoulders is my favorite way to wear outerwear.

Adding the modern snakeskin bag also adds interest. I love the clean lines, and the gorgeous print with a touch of color breaks up the monochrome ensemble. This crossbody bag has a rose gold chain that is stunning!

Shoes

I always say your shoes will set the tone for your entire outfit. That is why when putting together outfits, I usually start with shoe choice. If you switched my Chanel mules out for white sneakers, you have a completely different casual look.

That said, if you go with a feminine dress or a silk midi skirt, wearing an unexpected sneaker can work also. The contrast will play nicely, and your overall look will be very chic. If you want to wear a sneaker that day go for it, just build an outfit around your shoe choice that will work with what you’re going to do.
