Tips For Healthier Aging Hair
As a woman over 50, I see and feel my body changing each and every day. While I’m embracing my life, finding products to help me with some of my new concerns is important to me. One of the physical shifts I’ve least expected thus far has been my hair. No, not the gray hair we all know is coming, but the fragility and texture changes. I’ve been using Hair Biology products lately, which are specifically made for aging hair, and have genuinely noticed a positive difference in the way my hair looks and feels. Hair Biology is a brand that believes in the power of celebrating age and the experience that comes with it.
Each product they offer has been formulated and designed to work with your unique hair biology as you age. Like your skin, hair shows signs of aging, too. The most common signs of aging when it comes to our hair include lack of color, thinning, dryness, and overall hair quality.

TIPS FOR HEALTHY HAIR IN MIDLIFE:
Nourish it
Be sure to include the right supplements such as collagen and a specialized hair supplement to your routine to combat changing hormones that can cause hair loss. A diet rich in protein and fish oil will also help keep your hair healthy. Hair Biology’s Soft & Hydrated collection is designed to meet the changing needs of your hair with a moisturizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner. The collection is infused with biotin, which improves the body’s keratin infrastructure and supports strong, healthy hair growth.
The hair serum in this line contains Argan Oil, which is packed with antioxidants and is known to increase hair’s elasticity and restore shine. I highly suggest adding it to your routine! I use mine every day to add weightless shine and revive my bounce. In addition, the collection is free of parabens and dyes.
Add Shine
As I mentioned above, adding products like Hair Biology’s Argan oil can make all the difference in how your hair looks and feels! The soft & hydrated hair serum absorbs weightlessly while it nourishes to strengthen against damage; it will add shine, along with smoothing your ends and unruly grays.
Get Regular Hair Trims
It might seem counterproductive if you’re trying to grow your hair out, however keeping your ends healthy will promote hair growth. My hair grows faster when I get “health cuts” for maintenance! I get mine trimmed every ten weeks.
Add Volume
My hair changed texture as the grays and changing hormones started to take over. I went through a stage where my hair was flat and had zero volume, and it was not fun! I, unfortunately, had to get my driver’s license picture during this stage…Thankfully I was able to regain my fullness, and yes, I waited in the DMV line to retake the picture, haha!
If you are experiencing a lack of volume in your hair, Hair Biology has you covered! The Full and Vibrant Collection is designed to help with volume and add thickness to your hair. This collection is infused with biotin, which is known to improve the body’s keratin infrastructure and support strong, healthy hair growth.
The cherry on top of this collection is the hair thickening treatment that instantly thickens each strand and fights breakage for fuller-looking hair. The treatment benefits are progressive: The more you use it, the thicker your hair.
Add Moisture Regularly
I use a deep conditioning hair mask at least once a week. I have used several over the years, and I am genuinely impressed with how my hair feels and looks after using Hair Biology’s color sealing mask. In addition to leaving my hair hydrated and smooth, this mask has worked wonders to protect my color-treated hair. I color my roots every four weeks, so this formula helps keep my color vibrant. I’m also equally impressed with the color brilliance shampoo and conditioner I’m using. The sulfate-free Brilliance Shampoo gently cleanses without stripping to protect against damage and fade, while the Sulfate-Free Brilliance Conditioner helps protect against color fade and dullness by nourishing over-processed hair. The collection is made with biotin and free of parabens and dyes.
Be Gentle
When your hair is wet, minimize damage by using a wide-tooth comb to protect fragile hair from breaking. Instead of a bath towel, use a microfiber hair wrap like this one.
Embrace The Gray
Color treatments and bleach can be damaging to your fine hair and scalp. If you decide to go au natural, look for specialized products that are sulfate-free to help keep your hair bright and healthy. Hair Biology’s Silver and Glowing line is ideal for helping you fall in love with your hair again. The Silver Shampoo and Silver Conditioner have a purple base that will remove any dulling residue and contracts yellow tones resulting in stunning, shiny silver strands! Finish with the Silver Hair Serum that will melt into a clear serum to meet silver or gray hair needs. It restores moisture and shine while smoothing and softening for healthy glowing hair.
