As a woman over 50, I see and feel my body changing each and every day. While I’m embracing my life, finding products to help me with some of my new concerns is important to me. One of the physical shifts I’ve least expected thus far has been my hair. No, not the gray hair we all know is coming, but the fragility and texture changes. I’ve been using Hair Biology products lately, which are specifically made for aging hair, and have genuinely noticed a positive difference in the way my hair looks and feels. Nourish it

Fall 2021……while many things are still TBD, we are all striving to find a sense of normalcy and joy. Subtle hints of positivity are found threading throughout the season’s styles as designers flood the runways with happy and bright colors. I encourage you to freshen up your mood and your closet as you look forward to venturing out of your homes and safely gathering with friends and family this fall by adding a few trends to your capsule wardrobe. THE SWEATER VEST

The sweater vest is back with a bang this season, and I’m not mad about it! Perfect to layer under blazers or wear alone, this is one of the most fun trends this fall and fits almost every aesthetic in your wardrobe. Today’s style is cropped and colorful or oversized and layered. Neutral is always a good idea, too! Style it with anything from biker shorts to pleated skirts. The versatility of this staple piece will have you reaching for it again and again.

THE CROPPED BUTTON-UP CARDIGAN

Cropped button-up cardigans can be found in many different shapes and silhouettes, making this trendy piece your go-to layer. The easy fit can be dressed down over a graphic tee for a casual date night or dressed up with a cashmere set for a holiday. Whether you choose chunky and cozy or blousy and feminine, this cropped cardigan trend will take you through the cooler months ahead.

I recently splurged on this cropped cardigan, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop. It’s a beautiful knit I love to wear by its self or layered over tops. I’m wearing this one above on sale for under $40.00.

TROUSERS

If your fall calendar feels busier and you are moving away from loungewear and unstructured waistbands, try the trouser trend for a more polished look instead of reaching for denim. The options are endless yet still effortless. Pants this season are colorful, low rise or high waisted, leather or utility, wide-leg or cropped. Style them with boots, heels, or even your favorite pair of sneakers.

THE PLAID BLAZER

Though temperatures are dropping, it might still be too soon for your parka. Try a laid-back look inspired by men’s wear.  The plaid blazer trend has layering potential and adds a chic finishing touch to nearly any outfit. Wear it over a tank or turtleneck and pair it with a wide-leg trouser. I just grabbed this one, and I am almost ready to splurge on this one.

THE CABLE-KNIT SWEATER

It wouldn’t be a fall without a cozy chic cable-knit sweater, right? For the record…I’m a big fan of this trend! This is a great piece for all-season layering and one that isn’t going out of style anytime soon. If you’re in the market for a new chunky sweater to add to your capsule wardrobe, this cable knit is perfectly neutral to wear all season long, and loving this chic striped knit!

 

THE SLEEK KNEE-HIGH BOOT

Although over-the-knee boots were the star of the show for a few seasons, the sleek knee-high boot is now back in favor. Pair them with your favorite shirt dress, denim, or skirt for any occasion because they’re much easier to style than the other boot trends that have come and gone. I’m somewhat obsessed with these chic boots; the croc print always gets me to add to cart! Black boots are linked here and brown here. 

THE QUILTED COAT

Quite possibly one of my favorite trends of them all is the quilted coat – an outerwear piece you won’t want to live without this fall. Similar to the puffer coat (only cozier), the quilted coat will take you so many places in style this season. Don’t know what to wear it with? You’re in luck! There are so many different styles of quilted jackets out there and for every occasion. Definitely grab this one if you can; it sells out regularly. This is a great second choice!

A denim jacket is a year-round staple piece every woman needs in her wardrobe. I wear this one over dresses, tees, and more. Also, this gorgeous maxi dress is one I’ll be wearing for years to come. I adore the blue, white, and purple coloring and the vertical striped pattern.

RIBBED PULLOVER

Anything off the shoulder is a YES for me! The subtle tan and ivory stripes on this pullover pair perfectly with my white jeans but look equally fabulous with a midi skirt and boots. If you’re heading to the beach soon and aren’t sure what to pack, I’ve put together a beach packing list with the essentials, so all you have to do is throw them in a suitcase. What To Pack

  1. Midi Dress – A piece that’s super easy to dress up or down and will take you from the beach to dinner. I always make sure to pack a versatile midi dress for any and every beach trip, and this is one of my personal favorites. This is a budget-friendly version.
  2. Satin midi skirt – I love to pair a satin skirt with a fresh white t-shirt, especially at the beach. An effortless wardrobe staple to dress down with sneaks or dress up with heels.
  3. Button-Down Top – The hero piece not to be without on a beach trip! In addition to wearing it as a top, you can use it as a coverup or a light jacket in the evenings. I’m a sucker for a gauze button-down top.
  4. Full Face Pallet – I never travel without my full face pallet – it saves so much space and time since it’s a 5-in-1. I wear lighter amounts of makeup at the beach, so this is a pallet I pack every time.
  5. Sweat short set – This set is my cozy go-to for any summer vacation. Wear them as separates or together! These are great to have on hand when coming back up from the pool or beach or right before bed.
  6. Shoes – I always travel in sneakers because they’re easy to walk around the airport in and perfect for any vacation adventures you may be going on when you get there. All the shoes you pack should definitely be comfortable! I also pack sandals like pool/beach thongs, a no-brainer, and a pair of neutral heels that will match any outfit.
  7. Turkish Towel – I always toss my own towel in my luggage. I love the trendy Turkish towels because they are super thin and easy to pack. Since they’re not bulky, they don’t take up much space!
  8. Tote – A tote bag is a must-have for the beach! I take this personalized tote bag with me everywhere, and this classic tote is on my list. I always make sure the tote I pack is roomy enough for all my beach essentials. Not sure what to pack in your tote? Check out my tote packing checklist here!
  9. Hat – Whether a visor or straw hat, your skin will thank you. Did you know there’s an easy trick on how to pack a straw hat? Just turn it upside down, and put it close to your rolled-up clothes, so the brim does not get wrinkled, and pack the inside with small soft items. If you have two hats, place one over the other. You can see more packing hacks in this post.
  10. Battery pack – I never leave for a trip without one of these… Do yourself a huge favor and grab one of these because if you don’t need it for your portable speaker or phone, someone is guaranteed to!
  11. Small clutch – A cute zippered bag like this one is perfect to use in your beach bag and will double as a night-out clutch. I love how easy these are to pack… they take up no room in your suitcase, which is a plus!
  12. Face Sunscreen – Aside from body sunscreen, you will need facial sunscreen to protect your skin from all the extra sun you will be getting. If you don’t have a favorite face sunscreen, I highly recommend this clean product!  I also love this and this mineral sunscreen that leaves a sheer finish!

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that holding out for the best clothing and fashion sales each year is 100% worth it. For me, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one I anxiously await every year because they have the best picks in fashion. From fall and winter capsule wardrobe staples and shoes to athleisure and loungewear, the NSALE is one worth waiting for!

Whether you’re an early access member or waiting for public entry, the Nordy sale is open to anyone and everyone right now, so you can start adding to your carts and wishlists. Below I’m sharing some of my personal Nordstrom Anniversary Sale fashion picks your closet needs now!

As of right now, some of the pieces below are sadly sold out. However, Nordstrom is known for restocking when the sale opens to the public on the 28th. If you love something, here is what you do.

SHOPPING TIP—Add items to your wishlist on the Nordstrom site. You will get a text/email notification when it comes back in stock. When that happens, I’m sure you know, but drop everything and order it right away! There might only have a couple of items that were returned if it’s not a total re-stock item, so don’t wait, girls.

 

These Spanx straight-leg pants are a chic staple you will love having in your closet! The fit is comfortable, and they elevate a look, especially when adding heels.

My cardigan is by Vince and is so soft and cozy. An investment piece to have for years! The black buttons give it a little edge.

This suede jacket was a favorite. Hopefully, they restock because it’s a good one! I love this moto jacket as well, the neutral color is perfect for fall. The denim fits TTS, and I love the fit! My favorite bodysuit of the sale here.

OK, I fell in love with these chic satin pants with a wide leg. (Sz S) The inseam is 32″, perfect for heels or hem for flats. They are perfect for summer and easy to bring into the fall with booties! A favorite cozy tank that is actually sleepwear! Wearing these sandals with pretty much everything right now.

Wowza! A go-to sexy dress when it’s cold out, and you still want to look AMAZING! This dress is very sexy, and this is one purchase my husband is thrilled about! Very comfortable and soft. Simular here.

All black, everything perfection! Did I mention these jeans help hold your tummy in? They are some of my Instagram follower’s favorites! Layer on blazers, coats, sweaters, and add boots to bring these two staples into the fall.

This cute black camisole will layer beautifully under blazers for the fall!

I wanted this dress the minute I saw it. Casual, chic vibes that once again are easy to transition into the fall with heavier layers. A pretty blush pink color is also available.  Dress it down with sandals or up with heels!

Here is a closer look at my favorite bodysuit of the sale. I styled it here with denim that have a raw hem.

I believe the dress is sold out; hopefully, they restock; I need a size small, wearing an x-small here. I grabbed two colors in this thermal off-the-shoulder that is crazy soft! LOW WAISTED denim that I get requests for all the time! The best light-weight jacket of the sale….restock, PLEASE! This jacket will hopefully restock as well.

A super cozy chunky knit in neutral colors will look fabulous layered over your fall looks.

A closer look at the off the should top, love this print that it now comes in. Would be perfect with these leggings and heels.  I spy a sweater coat that is AMAZING! Please put it on your wishlist now to get notified when it comes back in stock!

I almost pulled the trigger on the long sweater cardigan. The tie in the back gives it a slimming look, and it fits like a dream!

Favorite boots of the sale. I grabbed the Rag & Bone in 2 colors. They were so comfy and last a lifetime…literally.

I wasn’t sure about this denim from Re-Done. The price tag is higher, but the sale does help. The more I wear them now, the more I love them! You can hem them by just cutting the bottom, so no tailor is needed.  Pretty much high-waisted and straight leg perfection! This top hangs beautifully.

These sandals have been my go-to since I bought them last month! Sadly, not on the Nsale.  Another off-the-shoulder top I love. It is easy to wear in the summer because of the open weave of the fabric.

Hands down my favorite lounge set! The pants and top are incredibly chic and flattering at prices that make you want one in every color, which is what I did! Lol! Grabbed these cute Sperry’s because I love the cream suede color for summer! This cardigan is the only one I bought. I grabbed two, this color block and a light grey color.

The sneakers I’m wearing are so comfortable and TTS ($58.00) A fresh pair of white sneakers is a staple for everyone’s closet!

I’ve had this customizable tote for almost and year and love it! Such a gorgeous bag that is perfect for travel or every day. The fabrics are very durable and soft. Mine still looks brand new and I use it constantly! At only $135.00 I highly recommend it! FYI this is a company for the UK so shipping times are longer. Order one soon if you love it!

Sisley is usually a part of this sale every year. They have included a discovery kit of the cult favorite Black Rose line this year. If this luxe cream is in your budget, I highly recommend it.

If you haven’t tried Necessaire, this is the perfect time to grab it on sale! This is a clean face-quality body wash.  I love how soft my skin feels, and the smell is so yummy! Unscented is also available.

I’ve used so many face exfoliation products over the years, but Lancer is my favorite! A gentle but very effective skin polish with a slight cooling effect. I’ve gone through about five bottles. I always grab the jumbo size on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and it lasts me all year.
