Amidst the large variety of loungewear pieces on the market to choose from, a hoodie has to be my go-to and my personal fave. A hooded sweatshirt is one of the most comfortable and functional pieces you’ll ever find, and every woman needs at least one in their wardrobe.

Consider a cozy chic hoodie your new best friend that will take you so many places this fall and winter. Depending on the occasion, elevate your loungewear by wearing a heel and faux leather leggings, or dress it down with a pair of your favorite sneaks. How To Choose The Best Moto Jacket

The chillier weather has finally made its way in, and I’ve been loving a good leather jacket for this time of year. You can see my favorite one here on my Instagram. I’m fully convinced a moto jacket is an essential staple every woman needs because they’re versatile, chic, and easy to style in the fall and winter. You’re guaranteed to wear it for years to come because it’s a classic piece that never goes out of style.

Below I’m sharing 5 tips on how to choose the best moto jacket for you!

1. How Much Should I Pay For A Leather Jacket?
The good news is, you’ve got lots of options! Vegan leathers have come along way. My advice to you? Pay what is personally comfortable for you and within your budget. This is not a one-season purchase. It will be in your wardrobe for years. It’s an investment, and you want to love it. Also, buying second hand is an excellent option to explore these days, too! You can learn more about that here.
2. Picking The Right COLOR

As with most pieces hanging in your wardrobe, if you want to get the most wear out of a leather jacket, it pays to go for a neutral color over trendy colors you’ll only wear for one season. You won’t go wrong with a classic black moto jacket because of its versatility – it will go with basically anything you wear. However, any neutral will be your best option, and I highly suggest picking a color you know you’ll wear for years to come.

3. Faux Vs. Real

Something to keep in mind when choosing the material: light vegan options for warm climates and real leather for cold weather. There’s really no wrong answer, though, and it truly comes down to how much you want to spend. If you want to make this a true investment and go for the real leather, nothing beats that fragrant smell or luxe look and fit.

4. The Fit

Personally, I appreciate the ability to wear a jacket over my shoulders as a layering option. Choose a classic length and try to avoid ones that are too cropped. Also, don’t invest in a piece that’s too tight because it does no good if you’re uncomfortable! If you love an oversized style, go for that!

5. The Style

The more clean and classic a moto jacket is, the more wear you’ll get out of it. I don’t recommend investing in a moto jacket with too many crazy zippers or buckles. If you want a bottom belt like this one, keep it as simple as possible. The simpler it is, the more versatile it is as well.

Fall has shown us many new trends this year, but my all-time favorite look so far is the faux leather pant trend. From faux leather leggings and joggers to faux leather work pants, you truly can’t go wrong when wearing this style. Faux Leather

Faux leather is trending for fall 2020. Gone are the days when faux leather looked cheap and felt uncomfortable. I prefer faux leather in some pieces over the real thing. It is more pliable, not as delicate, and can be cooler in the warm Fall days of the south.

How To Style:

  1. Wear your skirt with a crisp white tee as I have here. The contract between black and white is always a favorite of mine. Snakeskin boots will pop against the neutral tones. Adding a structured bag will elevate the whole look. If you want a more casual feel change the back out for something with fringe or softer structure.
  2. Fall is all about OTK boots, and mini skirts are a perfect time to wear some. Adding texture to the smooth skirt by paired a  chunky sweater with a little front tuck will look amazing. A leopard print bag will finish off the look.
  3. For a casual day outfit, add a graphic tee. Half tuck it in or tuck the bottom up and under your bra for a cropped look. I love this trick because you control how cropped it is. Add a stylish sneaker of your choice.
  4. Dress it up with a silk button-up, tucked in, and heels. A blazer thrown over your shoulders with a fun brooch would be so gorgeous.

These are just some of the many ways to style a faux leather skirt. I do not see this trend going anywhere but getting bigger in the future, so grab your faux leather today, girls!

Chic Fall Outfits

Fall has arrived, and I’m excited about wearing chic cozy layers! I tend to gravitate towards a neutral pallet in the fall. The browns, creams, and blacks all have my heart during the colder weather.

You do not need to spend a lot on knits to look put together. In my opinion, some sweaters are so overpriced! I mean, it’s a sweater, not a pair of shoes. Unless your talking cashmere with a classic cut, you can get the same look and feel for less (or until they all go on sale in December).

To give you outfit interest, you can add accessories that add a statement piece that will add a punch to your chic fall outfits.

How To Style:

  1. Start by pulling the item you want to wear. Whether that is a sweater, shoes, dress, or piece of jewelry (like a brooch), that piece is where you are going to start building your outfit.
  2. Make sure to have some contrast in your proportions. If you have a slouchy sweater, choose skinny pants. Wide leg slacks look great with tighter bodysuits or tops.
  3. Add interest to minimal fall outfits with statement accessories. Most likely, this will be a snake print or leopard printed shoe or bag. However, this doesn’t always have to be a print. It can be a luxe Chanel shoe (or Similar) because they are outfit makers all on their own.
  4. Monochrome dressing is the easiest way to look chic. Especially on a budget. More about that here.
  5. Make sure everything fits well and is comfortable. Nothing you wear will ever be more effective in giving you a chic look than your attitude.

The Members Only brand was created 45 years ago, in 1975! To say this jacket took over the 80’s is putting it lightly. Everyone had this iconic jacket! I graduated high school in 1987, so yes, I had one also! Celebrities wore the jacket so much that the company was able to dedicate their multi-million dollar advertising budget to campaigns raising funds for worthy causes!

So when they approached me to collaborate with them I was curious to see what other pieces they had in their current line. I found edgy moto jackets, sporty windbreakers, and puffers that I loved!  There was, of course, the classic racer, but it also comes in satin which is right up my alley!

Below I have on the classic jacket in black styled with skinny denim and sneakers for an everyday casual outfit.

Fashion Trend – Mid Sleeve Sweaters

I don’t know why I pass up a fashion trend sometimes. I think I tend to gravitate towards more classic looks. When I saw short/mid sleeve sweaters trending, I was like, I don’t get it? Just push up the sleeves on a long sleeve sweater, or wear an actual short sleeve. However, I tried a sweater on the other day that I totally fell in love with! Actually, I’ve been wearing it almost every day! I probably should buy another lol!

Here is why the trend works. For mild temperatures during the cooler months, it’s just a perfect amount of exposed skin. I’m never too hot with a bulky sweater on, and not too cold with fully exposed arms. I officially love this trend and hope it sticks around!

One trend I jumped on right away is pearl accents! I’m all in! These jeans not only are high-waisted & fit perfectly, but they also have the cutest pearl details at the ankle. Whether you wear sneakers, heels, or boots, they are going to have people stopping you to compliment you about them.

Between the homework, sports, and keeping everyone in the family clothed and fed, being a mom is a full-time job! Thinking about your outfit and style is sometimes the last thing on your mind when you leave the house. Here are a couple of simple tips to help you look your best when you step out the door and not like you were just running around tripping on lego’s trying and trying to get the school science experiment done!

Purge Your Closet

How many times have you looked at your overstuffed closet and said: “I have nothing to wear”? That is because putting together an outfit can be overwhelming when you have too many options. After your closet is organized, you will find it much easier to put together chic outfits quickly. See my post here to help with de-cluttering your closet.

Uniform

Now that you have your closet cleaned out, you need a couple of simple outfit combinations, or a uniform, that you can reach for on a moments notice. Choose solid and timeless basics such as below. Invest a little more in these pieces, so they last you will get several wearings from them.

When you put an outfit on that you love, take a picture and save it to a Pinterest board for easy future reference.

Outfit formulas:

Button-up shirt, white denim with printed mules and a luxe bag.

Striped t-shirt, skinny jeans, loafers, and a bright scarf.

Solid knit sweater, leggings, and leopard or snake printed boots/shoes.

Silk camisole, knit cardigan, ripped boyfriend jeans, and old school sneakers.

T-shirt, blazer, skinny jeans with sneakers.

Accessories

Your accessories are what is going to pull your look together and make it stand out. Having the below pieces in your rotation will bring your mom style up a notch for sure!

1.A bright or printed light scarf to wrap around your neck or shoulders like a cape.

2. A Luxe structured bag can be an outfit maker!

3. Printed flat shoes. Wearing a statement shoe will give any simple outfit interest.

4. Big dark sunglasses, your best friend when there is no time for make-up.

5. Timeless watch or one signature piece of jewelry.

6. A bold gold necklace that will give any button-up or t-shirt a luxe pop when you want it.
